Water Activities Update

5 December 2013

As some of you are aware St Mary’s Scout Group, Clitheroe District and East Lancs are quite active in Water Sports activities and are hoping to become more involved in Kayaking, Canoeing & Sailing over the next few years.

Currently there are a few exciting developments in the early stages but basically we will soon have access to facilities at Fishmoor (Blackburn) and Rishton reservoirs, plus others through our memberships with the following groups :

Lancashire School Sailing Association – http://www.lancashireschoolsailing.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=59

and

East Lancashire Sailing Club – http://www.sail-elsc.org.uk/Welcome.html & http://www.sail-elsc.org.uk/Groups_files/ELSC%20District%20Scouts.pdf

Through these organisation we hope to increase our opportunities for the whole troop to take part in water activites, similar to the Scouts Water Weekends at Ambleside.

In addition currently Brockholes Nature Reserve is currently look at opportunities to provide water activities on one of their lakes. It would help if you could support a questionnaire on the following page

http://www.brockholes.org/water-activity-consultation

This would provide us with another local safe water area, without the need to travel to the Lakes.

Thanks in advance
