Fundraising Activities

Scouting is a charity, and great scouting requires sufficient funds – to run camps, purchase equipment, provide badges and so on. Please help us raise money so that we can continue to offer a high quality Scouting experience.

Currently we have plans to expand our ability to provide more water sports activities to our troop members. We are starting by focusing on Kayaking and canoeing. Maybe we can even be part again in developing another Olympian. One of our 2012 Olympian local heroes is Jon Schofield who along with Liam Heath won a Bronze medal in the K2 200m Kayak race. What you are probably not aware of is that Jon started his epic journey to glory as part of the Clitheroe Scouts movement, and it was through the cub-scout racing league, that Jon was spotted. Read more about Jon’s early years here

In order to this we are currently have 5 leaders who have recently passed their British Canoeing Union 2* training (read about their training in this post). Many thanks to Andy Noblett at the Calder Canoe Centre for providing this at discounted rates. More training is required for us to become self sufficient including additional an safety course.

See below for a list of our fundraising activities – and please let us know if you an help out or have any new ideas!
