After our recent camp successes (in the leaders opinion and hopefully the children), we are going to do it again. I did have to pinch myself whilst writing that bit – just a sanity check, but yes we are going to subject ourselves to being outdoors, sleeping (ha ha Ok lying awake in a sleeping bag), setting fires – cooking bread, and getting wet (hopefully only in Lake Windermere!).
So the last bit gives you a clue we are planning to go to the Great Tower Scout Activity Centre next to Lake Windermere, a 250 acre site, under canvas for the Weekend of 29 – 31st August. More details on the dates below.

- THE WEEKEND:
The plan is as follows UPDATED:
Thursday 28/8 Evening Cubs and Scouts to Great Tower to set up camp. Cubs can join as currently we have sufficient Adults available to support.
Friday 29/8 : Activities during day, remainder arrive at Camp during late afternoon/evening
Saturday 30/8 : Activities, Camp fire etc
Sunday 31/8 : Morning activities, Strike camp Sun afternoon, home early evening.
Proposed activities include :
Scouts Kayaking, Canoeing, Sailing, Orienteering, wide games
Cubs: Kayaking, Potentially a trip on the Steam Railway, Steamer across the lake and Maybe Car Museum, wide games others to be confirmed. This is all numbers dependent
Provisional costs are :
3 night stay (ie Thurs, Fri, Sat) – £55
2 night stay (ie Fri, Sat) – approx £40
Final costs dependent upon numbers and activities chosen.
Thank you for all the volunteers todate
Important bit: In order for this to happen, we the leaders will need help from you the parents, either in:
1. transportation to Windermere and back!,
2. staying over (some of the leaders can’t get time off to support the Thurs night. Chris and Alex are so far confirmed for Thurs onwards), doesn’t have to be the whole weekend.
Dependent upon the availability of adult support we may have to change the plans: so could be Friday pm onwards, and worst case limit numbers we can take.
In order for us to start the detailed planning we need to know who is interested in this weekend, both Adults and Cubs/Scouts. So sorry it’s form time.
FINAL REMINDER – Form will be closed on Sat 12th latest (after this point sorry we cannot guarantee you can join camp). We need to finalise numbers for tent allocation and activities, if Great Tower needs information earlier we may have to close earlier!
We really hope that you can join us on the Adventure.
